THANK YOU
At an all hands meeting a few months ago, the founders of AnnieCannons asked us to consider composing a short thank you card to share with funders and board members about how AnnieCannons has helped us reach for the stars.
I ruminated upon the following options of written appreciation. Click on each button to discover my musings.
I looked at the puny space on the thank you card and thought:
Pfft! Whatever.
This canvas is too itty bitty to convey the IMPACT of AnnieCannons on my life.
In other words, I lacked the succinct words that would fit the designated space.
Besides, it would be great to save the paper and therefore save a tree.
So I started to compose a letter via email, which ran exactly counter to what the founders desired us to do.
Huh? Why not?
Well, they wanted to honor the worth of our time and labor. Both commodities are incredibly valuable.
Writing a letter would entail much unpaid effort on our part, given their 501(c)(3) status. Therefore, letter-writing was strongly discouraged.
Still, compelled to pay back and pay forward, I addressed the founders and composed the first paragraph...
then a couple more...
and finally...
parked the draft...
for months...
with no end in sight.
I found once again that I was at a loss for words to describe just how much AnnieCannons meant and still means to me.
Then I thought...
Aha! I am a software developer -- many thanks to AnnieCannons.
Building websites is part of what I learned to do.
So why not build a website?!?!?!
Of course, this was once again much more labor than the founders would have wanted from us.
However, I felt that it would best demonstrate just what AnnieCannons has trained us to do:
to develop websites and begin a lucrative career in tech.
What better way than to compose an e-thank you card in the form of a website??????
Stricken with the epiphany, fervor took hold and THIS
is the website you see before you.
I am told that the sun is actually a star. A really BIG one. With very BIG responsibilities.
Every person is a star.
Just like the sun, our task is to embrace every part of ourselves and enable everything that our light touches to flourish toward health, growth and sustainability.
